Shop Your Closet: Sweatpants
September 28, 2010 § 2 Comments
OK, so you asked for it, and here it is! Some of you requested that I do a post showing how you can update your wardrobe without breaking bank or spending money at all.
Instead of doing one long post that goes on and on (because you know I can go on forever), I decided to do a mini series that features items we already have in our wardrobe and how you can revamp them!
Remember, the key to a new wardrobe isn’t necessarily what you buy, but what you already have.
This week’s ‘hot’ item? Sweatpants!
Let’s face it: we all have them and probably use them for everything but a fashion statement. This season, however, try pairing them with tailored separates and eye-catching accessories to offset their relaxed appearance.
You’ll want to stick to a pair that has more of a tapered leg and less of that slouchy, just-got-out-of-bed look, if you know what I mean.
Try paring them with your favorite boyfriend blazer for a more structured look. An embellished tank and some sky-high booties make this look appropriate for night-time.
For one of my favorite looks, tuck in a plaid shirt (yes, they’re still in!), add a belt around your waist, and some girly heels. To add some polish, grab a metallic clutch and you’re good to go!
If you’re going for something a bit more edgy, this one’s for you. A beaded tank, rocker-chic jewelry and booties give off that effortlessly glamorous effect.
Which look is your fave? Do you have any ideas of your own to revamp sweatpants? Leave a comment and let me know!

I’d try it if it weren’t so cold and if I could walk in heels.
If you’re having trouble walking in heels, I suggest you start with wedges. They’re the most comfortable, and give your feet the most support. Thanks for reading!
