Fall 2010 Look Book: Part I
September 14, 2010 § Leave a comment
As I sip on my Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte and flip through the latest issue of People StyleWatch Magazine, I am reassured that the fall season is finally here. And as New York Fashion Week officially kicked off this past Thursday, I thought what better way to spend my day than to discuss the new trends and fashion must-haves.
For fierce fashion in the new season, you’ll want to invest in a few key pieces to update your wardrobe. Some of the new trends to look for? Beautiful jewel tones, elegant bags, feminine shapes, ladylike accessories, military chic, camel, gray accessories, lace, chunky knits, and lace-up booties.
Following, I’ve put together a ‘look book,’ if you will, of all of the exciting trends. First on our list? The military trend.
Yes, it has been on the fashion radar for a while now. And while some may argue that this trend is beyond played out, it is clearly not going anywhere anytime soon. With Fall quickly approaching, and colder weather ahead (*crosses fingers*), the look now calls for heavier fabrics, thicker jackets, pants, etc. Now, this doesn’t have to be a head-to-toe look as I’ve pictured here–in fact, it shouldn’t be at all. Instead, invest in a few pieces that you could still use for seasons to come.
I think it goes without saying that this is one of my favorite trends of the season, hence my previous post dedicated entirely to it. There’s just something about this one that’s uber chic and elegant, not to mention timeless. The key to wearing this otherwise bland and boring color is to mix it up with other strong neutrals. For example, a brown leather belt, a gray shirt, etc. Here, I’ve pictured a few options with different patterns and colors.
Attention Ladies: This season, give that little black dress and your trusty black pumps a rest! Instead, opt for a sexy gray minidress and lace-up booties. That’s right! Gray is yet another big-timer this season. From handbags to clothing, and eye make up to shoes, gray, like camel, is the new neutral and a must for every fall wardrobe.
